Motorcycle pants packshots
Motorcycle pants photography is a higher driving school in packshot photography. Why? Because they are heavy, rigid and equipped with protectors that change the center of gravity of the product on the mannequin. See how we tamed this demanding product.
Presentation of pants on a ghost mannequin
The flat lay presentation of motorcycle pants does not reflect their character. On the other hand, photos on the model, although attractive in image campaigns, often focus attention on the model and distract attention from the technical aspects of the clothing. A ghost mannequin is a technique that combines both forms: it allows the product to preserve the natural anatomy of the human body while eliminating any "distractions".
Looking at the attached product photos of the pants, we can see a perfectly preserved form. The pants have been photographed from all sides so that the customer can be sure how they look and immediately see how the pants fit at the waist, how the knees are profiled and how the elastic panels (accordions) look. This is fashion photography in the service of utility – the buyer can almost "enter" these pants with his eyes.
One photo in the case of this type of clothing is definitely not enough. We photographed the pants from all sides, the gallery above shows a model workflow of a product session. One product and 7 shots. Why so many and is such a number of photos per product a good investment?
-
First photo - Front (straight ahead): First impression. It shows the overall fit and proportions.
-
3/4 shot (half-profile): The most important for dynamics. It shows the volume of the trousers and the way the elastic panels above the knees "work".
-
Side (profile): The detail of the side pockets and the profile of the legs are key here. In the motorcycle industry, this is where you can see whether the pants have an ergonomic, slightly bent cut (the so-called pre-curved legs).
-
Back (back): Presentation of the yoke and reinforcements on the buttocks. The photos show a wide elastic panel under the belt, which is crucial for the comfort of riding in an inclined position.
-
Details (macro/close-up): Logo buttons, patches, yellow technical tags. It is these "flavors" that sell the product in the premium segment.
If there are, for example, 7 shots per product, the price of the packshot is lower than if there are e.g. two shots on the clothes - only the front and the back. Therefore, it is worth investing in a larger number of product photos, the cost of such a packshot photo will quickly pay off.

Technical challenges: How to photograph motorcycle pants?
Motorcycle pants, as we have already mentioned, are heavy and stiff, which is why they are not the easiest product to take photos of. Their proper styling is very important.
1. Styling and Molding
Before taking the first photo, styling is key. In the case of the presented motorcycle jeans, it was necessary to precisely position the legs on the mannequin. We paid special attention to the details:
-
Folding panels: They must be properly "stretched" in the photo to show their functionality, but without unnatural kinks.
-
Knee protectors: in the photos, you can clearly see the protrusion of the space for protectors. A good photo studio knows that they cannot be flattened – they are the ones that prove the safety of the product.
-
Leg roll-up: Showing the inside of the fabric builds confidence and adds a lifestyle touch.
2. Professional lighting - suitable texture
In garment product photography, light is a tool that builds a sculpture. Motorcycle pants have a specific texture – from a thick weave of denim to technical inserts. In the photo of the black model, we can see how difficult it is to preserve details in deep blacks. Thanks to the use of soft softboxes and counter lights, we brought out the edges of the pockets, belt loops and the structure of the material, avoiding the "black spot" effect. In the blue model, on the other hand, chiaroscuro perfectly emphasizes the abrasions of the denim, which is important for the aesthetics of the fashion industry.
3. Post-production
Just taking a photo is half the battle. Post-production of ghost product photos requires masterful precision and excellent knowledge of graphic programs. First, we check the color, it's a very important stage, let's remember that the customer doesn't see these pants live, so he must be sure that he is buying the blue color he sees on the monitor. Color matching is key to avoid returns from customers who receive goods "other than in the photo". Then we parchment each photo (cut it out of the background). Thanks to grouting, we can place our product on any background, most often it is a white background (allegro Amazon), light gray or beige. If our store's website is kept in gray, we can easily place a gray background under the product that matches the store's website. The next step is retouching: removing unnecessary threads, pollen or minor imperfections of the material, while preserving the natural creases that give the product authenticity.
Product photography of Ghost Mannequin motorcycle pants
In the age of digital clothing sales, where the customer has no way to touch the fabric or try on the product before buying, product photography is becoming the most important salesperson in your online store. Recently, we had the pleasure of photographing motorcycle pants. How do these types of pants differ from regular jeans? First of all, they perform other functions. Not only visually, but also in terms of security. In an industry as specific as motorcycle clothing, where technology is intertwined with safety and style, standard photos are not enough. Realism and three-dimensionality are important here. The best solution for presenting this type of clothes? Of course, the Ghost Mannequin Packshot.
How does a professional packshot affect sales?
The use of the ghost mannequin technique in the motorcycle industry is not just a matter of aesthetics, it is a pure economic calculation:
-
Increase in trust: Professional photos suggest a responsible manufacturer.
-
Fewer returns: With a multi-faceted presentation, the customer knows exactly what they are buying. He can see the height of the waist, the width of the legs and the placement of protectors.
-
Multi-channel: Photos prepared in this way look great both in an online store and in a printed catalog or social media.
Motorcycle pants – style and precision
The presented motorcycle pants are a perfect example of how modern product photography can emphasize the technical advancement of clothing. The use of a ghost mannequin allowed to achieve a three-dimensional effect that is impossible to achieve with other methods.
For brands in the motorcycle industry that want to compete in the global market, high-quality packshots are no longer an option – they are the foundation. If your products offer safety and style, product photography needs to prove it. Every seam, every harmonica and every rivet in these photos tells a story of quality that the customer wants to pay for.
